We are blessed to have known this remarkable young man. His smile and laugh will never be forgotten! Information about his arrangements are as follows. Please keep the Thomas family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

ANDREW THOMAS: YOUNGSTOWN – Andrew Thomas, 25, passed away early Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012, at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, with his family by his side following a brief illness.

Andrew was born Jan. 21, 1987, in Youngstown, a son of Richard M. and Mary E. Craig Thomas, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a graduate of Liberty High School and participated in bowling, the Brookfield Challenger Baseball Little League, Trumbull YES Soccer, the Trumbull County Summer Enrichment Program/LEAP, OH Camp, and the ISLE-Golden String-Purple Cat.

Andrew leaves his parents, Richard and Mary of Youngstown; two sisters, Megan and Rean Thomas, each of Youngstown; his brother, Matthew Esq. (Janet) Thomas of Cleveland; his paternal grandfather, James Thomas of Campbell; a niece and a nephew, Olivia and Roan Thomas; 22 aunts and uncles; 53 cousins; his caregiver and dear friend, Kristina Ring; numerous former caregivers; and many therapists, healthcare providers, and friends.

Andrew’s remarkable life enhanced the lives of many of the people he came in contact with, and Andrew’s family was and is humbled by the many who took him into their hearts. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A brother, Anthony Thomas, and grandparents, John and Helen Craig, and Anne Marie Thomas, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and continue at 11 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 400 Lincoln Park Drive, Youngstown.

Andrew’s family thanks the too-numerous-to-name friends, neighbors, professionals, educators and community activists who helped Andrew live life to the fullest, the staff at Children’s Rehabilitation Center, ISLE, Hattie Larlham, Palliative Care and the PICU at Akron Children’s Hospital, Trumbull Community Bus, Starr Construction, and the congregations at St. Rose Church and Churchill United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Andrew’s name to the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Warren, to Akron Children’s Hospital, to the Golden String, or to Summer Enrichment/LEAP.

SEP camper and LEAP member, Julie Lombardi’s father works for TMK. The company has been allotted $1000 to volunteer and support an organization of their choice. The picked us!!!! Their families will be volunteering with LEAP and SEP activities. The Ice Cream Social is a way for us all to meet and get to know one another.
